Col. 3:15 Let the Peace (Shalom) of God rule in your hearts:…
God’s word implores us to allow the peace of God to rule our hearts. That word rule means “to govern”.
I get a little concerned though when I hear so much fear mongering coming from “Christians”, believers bashing on other believers.
It’s already too much when I hear it from the news, the radio, unbelievers: but Believers?
It’s enough already to get bad news from work, or home, bad news from the doctor; everything trying to shake up your peace; the devil sure is working over- time trying to get people over into allowing fear to govern their hearts.
When we get over into fear, and it begins governing our hearts, then we begin making poor choices and decisions.
The problem with fear is it clouds our minds, perverts judgment; it breaks our fellowship with God. When our fellowship is broken we cannot hear God directing us.
Fear leads us down a path of destruction.
1 John 4:18 There is no fear in LOVE; but Perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
Torment is self-inflicted punishment. Unfortunately so many with poor theology have bought into a fear based relationship with God and everyone else that it is not love that motivates them, but fear and torment.
The thing is God is not angry with man. Men are angry with men, men are angry with God. But God’s desire is that his Perfect Love would flood our hearts and cast out of the Heart House the illegal squatters called fears and anxiety, and take self-inflicted punishment with them.
Believers are called to the love life, not the fear life. Leave that stuff behind you; those old rags won’t do you any good in the Kingdom. It’s time to change clothes, put on something fresh.
Love is the distinguishing feature of the believer. (Rom. 5:5; 2 Thes. 2:16-17)
And where there is Love – Peace governs the heart.
Romans 8:35-39 declares that “Nothing” shall separate us from the Love of Christ…
Rom. 4:17 Phil. 4:7 Rom. 8:15-16
Mature sons of God have learned how to allow Peace to govern and inform their hearts.
Well, how am I supposed to do all that?
Simple. If you go back to Col. 3:15-16 it tells us exactly how.
It’s the same thing you do with the news only you change the perspective.
Col 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
Let, allow, permit the WORD of CHRIST, to DWELL in you RICHLY.
Let the Word inform your heart; when your heart has been properly informed with the correct information it brings Peace: then go around and tell everyone about it.
May the SHALOM of GOD Govern your hearts.
